Please take a moment to read the Media Center newsletter and follow the links to view the new titles and formats that have been added to the library’s collection.  Please keep in mind that the Area Media Center accepts purchase requests. If it’s not in our collection, you may make a request for the AMC to purchase a specific title or series.
 


 

The Playaway Experience

 

Simple, compact and ready-to-go. With Playaways, your students can listen to an audio book with ease. There’s no need for any special equipment, juggling cassettes or CDs or lengthy downloads. The entire book is already loaded on the durable Playaway unit, which is about half the size of a deck of cards and made of droppable plastic. Each Playaway comes in a universal plastic case that contains the Playaway unit, earphones, AAA battery and a lanyard. Your students just plug in the earphones and press play.
 


 

Video Collection

Over the summer the Area Media Center added additional digital titles to the growing collection.  Financial Fitness: Consumer Banking Basics, this series will help young adults learn to appreciate the value of their money by presenting the pleasures and pitfalls of financially responsibility.  The Working World for Young Adults is a four-part life skills series that will show young adults the importance of a strong work ethic. The series also focuses on attitude and how to compete in the global marketplace Ohio and its history, view the newest titles from the Ohio Farm Bureau. These titles are for all ages; learn more about Ohio’s past, present and future! .


 

 

Operation Overlord: The D-Day Battle for Normandy TEACHER WORKSHOP

 

The National D-Day Museum, “America’s World War II Museum,” explores this turning-point battle in the war in Europe .  Study how teamwork, planning, ingenuity and courage won the day for the Allies in WWII.  Receive classroom-ready lesson plans and discuss WWII teaching strategies with the museum’s education staff by video conferencing. Museum education staff will review the materials in the workshop packet, lead participants through several lesson plans, and present video of D-Day. Teachers will debate several discussion questions meant to show students the relevance of this history to their lives.  Program length is 2-3 hours; for teachers of grades 5-12.  A date and time has not been set, if interested in attending this free after school workshop please notify Lisa Santo at lisa.santo@fcesc.org.
