State Support Team Region 11
Pilots New Ohio Improvement Process

The State Support Team, Region 11 is piloting a new statewide Leadership Development Framework to close achievement gaps and serve as the foundation of district Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plans beginning in the 2009-10 school year.

Supported by a $9.5 million five-year State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) through the Ohio Department of Education’s Office for Exceptional Children (OEC), SST 11 facilitators Jacque Burke and Lynn Brannon are working with London City Schools’ District Leadership Team to fully implement the planning framework for identifying and implementing research-based interventions to improve academic achievement of all students.

As part of its design, the SST facilitators use SPDG resources to support their training to provide coaching, consultation and technical assistance to the District Leadership Team in completing a comprehensive data-based needs assessment and planning process for establishing and implementing focused goals for improving instruction and achievement for all children.

London City Schools is one of 16 districts selected from each State Support Team region across the state to serve as the first cohort to pilot the process.  Additional districts will be invited to participate in subsequent cohorts and receive three years of support. SPDG also will provide districts, families and relevant organizations access to a wide variety of resources, including the project’s Web site, e-Learning academies, and a series of products, tools, and supports.
