The Educational Service Center of Franklin County Governing Board has selected Alan Hutchinson as the agency’s next treasurer. Hutchinson will start at the ESC in January 2008.

Hutchinson has served as treasurer of Lakota Local Schools in West Chester, Ohio, since 1999. He also has served as treasurer at South-Western City, Whitehall City and Gahanna-Jefferson Public school districts.

ESC Governing Board President Joyce Galbraith said Hutchinson’s wealth of experience and professional involvement separated him from the other candidates.

“With 23 years as an Ohio School treasurer and 15 of those in Franklin County, Alan was a natural choice to lead the financial operations of the Educational Service Center,” Galbraith said.

ESC Superintendent Bart Anderson shared Galbraith’s excitement about the selection.

“Alan Hutchinson’s reputation and knowledge made him an incredible candidate,” Anderson said. “It will be a pleasure to work alongside him.”

Hutchinson will replace Marjorie Fenton, who will retire in January after more than 50 years of service as a treasurer in Ohio. Fenton spearheaded a financial turnaround after joining the ESCFC in 2001, an achievement recognized when she was named the 2005 Ohio Association of School Business Officials’ Treasurer of the Year.
