ESC looking at expected growth, request for merger

The ESC of Franklin County is expanding, but our commitment to the schools of Franklin County remains as strong as ever.

District officials in Olentangy Local, Big Walnut Local and Buckeye Valley Local school districts have or will take steps to become part of ESC of Franklin County through an annexation petition to the State Board of Education. These annexations will allow us to offer a greater variety of services to the school districts in Delaware County.

Our educational service center has served the school districts of Franklin County for 94 years, and our standards of service will continue to remain high.

In a related matter, the Delaware-Union ESC Governing Board voted April 14 to formally request that our board consider a request for a merger. Our board has charged Treasurer Alan Hutchinson and I with crafting a formal process to consider this request and will carefully analyze our approach.

Regardless of how we add additional districts to our service area, we look forward to continue helping the students and schools achieve more in Franklin County and throughout central Ohio.

In Service to Children,
Bart Anderson
